The Ministry of Education has warned the public against sharing fake and digitally altered Computerized School Selection and Placement System (CSSPS) placement slips, which have been circulating on social media.
In a statement dated September 9, 2026, and signed by the Ministry’s Press Secretary, Hashmin Mohammed, it said some individuals have been manipulating CSSPS placement slips and passing them off as evidence that original placement results have been changed.
“The Ministry wishes to state unequivocally that these claims are false and misleading,” the statement said.
According to the Ministry, preliminary internal checks show that some of the placement slips being shared online do not match records on the official CSSPS platform, with the barcodes and QR codes on the documents failing to correspond to the placement details they display.
“Following preliminary internal verification, the Ministry has established that some of the placement slips being circulated do not correspond with records generated from the official CSSPS platform.
In particular, the barcodes and QR codes on the purported placement slips do not match the placement information presented on the documents being circulated as evidence of alleged changes,” the statement said.
The Ministry said its system and audit logs do not support the claims being made by those circulating the documents, adding that the affected slips appear to have been manipulated digitally to create the false impression that some students’ placements had been changed.
It described the development as a deliberate attempt to undermine public confidence in the CSSPS process and to cause needless confusion and anxiety among students, parents and guardians.
It said matter has been referred to the Cyber Security Authority and other security agencies for investigation and has cautioned the public against sharing unverified placement slips and urged parents, guardians and students to rely only on placement information obtained through official CSSPS channels.
The Ministry reaffirmed its commitment to conducting the 2026 CSSPS placement exercise with transparency, fairness, integrity and accountability, and assured the public that any legitimate placement concerns would be duly investigated through the appropriate channels.
