National Organiser and National Vice Chairman aspirant for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Lawyer Henry Nana Boakye (Nana B), has expressed confidence in the party’s current standing, saying it has regained its attractiveness following the painful defeat in 2024.
In an interview with Oheneba Asiedu on Wontumi TV’s Morning Show, the Vice Chairman aspirant said the party’s renewed appeal stems largely from the reorganisation structures put in place over the past year.
“By the grace of God, these current executives have championed massive reforms,” he stated.
He said the reforms have proved successful: “I am telling you, the spirit of the elephant is back again. When I go out and people see the NPP colours on me, they become happy.”
One reform that has gained traction is the decision to hold presidential primaries before any other internal election. Lawyer Nana Boakye said the approach, although questioned by many at the time, has helped protect the party’s image.
“Imagine if we had not organised our presidential primaries first all the flagbearer aspirants would have formed their own polling stations, and we would have created 40,000 problems, because we have over 40,000 polling stations,” he told Oheneba Asiedu.
He said that without that approach, the party would still be dealing with disputes over its polling station and constituency elections. “The problems would have been widespread,” he said.
The lawyer revealed that some party elders disagreed with the approach at the time, flooding their phones with calls and accusing them of undermining the party.
“When we started with that approach, some party elders said we were destroying the party. You would get long letters and calls, but now they are calling to congratulate us for our vision,” he stated.
