The newly elected Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Odeneho Kwaku Appiah, popularly known as COKA, has set a target of securing more than 80% of the region’s presidential votes for the party in the 2028 general elections.
He said achieving the target would require unity and cooperation among the party’s leadership hierarchy, from the polling station level to the regional level.
Speaking during a Thanksgiving Service held to express gratitude for his election as Regional Chairman, COKA said the NPP must unite as a collective force ahead of 2028, adding that his leadership would centre on unity.
“I will lead to unite this party from the polling station to the region,” he said.
The Regional Chairman said he would work with Members of Parliament, the NPP Council of Elders, former executives, former MMDCEs and other party members to rebuild the party and prepare it for the 2028 elections.
He stressed the Ashanti Region’s critical role in ensuring the party’s return to government.
“Ashanti Region must deliver over 80% win votes for NPP and our presidential candidate, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, in 2028,” he stated.
The 80% target comes as the NPP seeks to recover from a significant electoral setback in the Ashanti Region in the 2024 elections.
COKA has previously emphasised the need to rebuild the NPP’s structures and reconnect with its grassroots as part of efforts to strengthen the party’s 2028 fortunes.
He appealed to party members to set aside their differences and work together to achieve the party’s objectives.
“The work ahead is huge,” COKA said, adding that he needed the support of party members to deliver the mandate entrusted to him.
