COKA Debunks Akan Tag On NPP Says Nasara Wing Key To Party’s Growth

Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Odeneho Kwaku Appiah(COKA) has emphasized the distinctive importance of the Nasara wing to the party dismissing claims that say the NPP is an Akan party.

The Chairman gave the remarks when the Ashanti Regional Nasara Coordinator Alhaji Abubakar Razak led a team of Constituency Nasara Organizers to the party’s temporary office at Danyame in the Nhyiaeso Constituency.

The visit was to congratulate COKA and the other newly elected executives.

Odeneho said he was surprised with the NPP is an Akan party tag.

“It always surprises me when critics mischaracterise the NPP as an exclusively Akan party,” he said when he stressed the importance of the Nasara wing in community outreach and voter mobilisation especially in the Zongo communities.

The Chairman said, forming the Nasara wing was a deliberate constitutional decision which was done to recognize and honour the works and contributions of Zongo and Northern Communities to the UP-NPP tradition.

COKA said critics overlook the past efforts of some prominent NPP members from the Northern-Zongo communities who held the forte for the party in the party.

“They overlook the foundational contributions of stalwarts like Jator Kaleo, S.D. Dombo, and Abayifa Karbo, who hailed from northern Zongo communities and helped build this political tradition from its inception,” he said.

The Chairman the Region’s Nasara wing was tasked by COKA to ensure he and his team worked tirelessly to widen the party’s base in the Region, and also ensure they coordinate and engage for the Zongos to rally behind Dr Mahamudu Bawumia in 2028.

“I charge you to work tirelessly to expand our reach in the Zongos and deliver a decisive victory for the NPP in 2028,” he declared, rallying the coordinators to secure the presidency for the party’s candidate, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia,” he stated.

The Regional Coordinator, Alhaji Abubakar Razak assured COKA he and his team are ready to do all the heavy lifting for the party to win the 2028 election.

“Our marching orders are clear. We remain fully committed to doing the heavy lifting required to secure a resounding victory for the NPP in 2028,” he affirmed.
