The campaign coordinator for Hon. Dr. Henry Kwabena Kokofu, the Ashanti Regional Chairman aspirant for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Mr. Kofi Agyei, popularly known as “Away Bus”, has said Dr. Kokofu will tour 34 constituencies in the region in one week as part of his campaign strategy.
Mr. Agyei said Hon. Kokofu’s campaign hit a small bump due to Chairman Wontumi’s incarceration, but that they are ready to hit the road again, as Kokofu has since met with the chairman, who has given him his blessing.
“At 8:30 a.m. yesterday, Hon. Kokofu was at Nsawam Prison. He went there to give the chairman some words of encouragement, and the chairman told him to go and work, and that what God has said will come to pass,” he said.
According to Mr. Agyei, the team plans to tour 34 constituencies in the region within one week. These are constituencies whose internal elections have ended without contention.
“We will visit all 34 constituencies that have completed their elections, and we will do it in one week,” he added, saying they will start on Thursday, July 30, by visiting the Kumasi Central Market to interact with market women, before kick starting their tour in Obuasi on Friday.
He also put on record some of the work Hon. Kokofu’s team has already done, saying they began touring the constituencies even before the internal elections were held.
He said they presented the Honourable to all the aspirants in the constituencies, telling them that whoever wins will, by God’s grace, have their regional chairman in the person of Hon. Dr. Henry Kwabena Kokofu.
He touted Hon. Kokofu’s credibility, saying: “We know him, and we believe when he wins he will be a force of unity in the region.”
