Government Pays Tribute To The Late Yaa Naa, Praised Him For His Commitment To Unity

The Government of Ghana has commiserated with the people and royal family of the Dagbon land after they lost their Chief His Majesty Yaa Naa Abukari Mahama II, who is revered for restoring and sustaining the peace in the Dagbon state.

In a statement released by the Presidency and signed by the Minister for Government Communications on Monday, July 13, the President His Excellency John Dramani Mahama on behalf of government “extends his deepest condolences to the Royal Family, the people of Dagbon, and the entire nation during this period of immense grief.”

The Yaa Naa who was enskinned in 2019 brought an end to a long standing conflict that took place in the Dagbon state for many years.

According to Government, “His Majesty’s” reign brought healing to the Dagbon state.

“His Majesty will be remembered as a distinguished traditional ruler whose reign brought healing, reconciliation, and lasting peace to Dagbon following years of conflict,” the statement said.

Government also praised him for his dedication saying, “his unwavering commitment to unity, stability, and the welfare of his people created an enabling environment for development and strengthened the enduring partnership between the traditional authorities and the Government in advancing progress across Dagbon and Ghana.”

The Government in the statement honoured the Yaa Naa’s invaluable service to the nation and said, “may his wisdom, leadership, and dedication to peace continue to inspire future generations.”
