I Financed My Media Platforms To Support NPP During the 2020 Elections- Chairman Wontumi

Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Bernard Antwi Boasiako, popularly known as Chairman Wontumi, says he personally financed the establishment of his media platforms to support the party’s campaign during the 2020 general elections.

According to him, the NPP did not provide him with any financial support.

“During the 2020 elections, when Ghana was battling the COVID-19 pandemic, I stood on my own feet. The NPP did not give me any money. I financed everything myself,” he said.

Chairman Wontumi explained that it was during that period that he established Wontumi TV and Wontumi Radio in the Ashanti Region before expanding to Greater Accra with Movement TV and Wontumi Radio.

He said the media outlets were established to promote the government’s policies and achievements.

“The primary objective of establishing these media outlets was to communicate the policies, achievements, and development agenda of the NPP government to Ghanaians,” he stated.

He further credited the platforms with helping the party communicate with voters during the COVID-19 restrictions.

“I dedicated these media platforms to the NPP. They played a significant role in promoting the party’s message across the country during the 2020 elections, helping us secure victory at a time when the COVID-19 pandemic made conventional campaigning almost impossible,” he added.
