Dead Mfantsipim Student In Uncompleted Building Identified

A final-year student of Mfantsipim School, Emmanuel Arthur, has been identified as the young man whose decomposed body was discovered in an uncompleted building at North OLA in Cape Coast.

A statement issued by the Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the Central Regional Police Command, Chief Inspector Isaac Evans Ettie, said a carpenter reported to the police at about 5:30 p.m. the same day.

Hanging

The statement said the carpenter told police that at about 4:45 p.m., he had visited an uncompleted building at OLA North where he was working and found the decomposed body of an unknown male, believed to be about 17 years old, hanging in the structure.

It said a team of police officers proceeded to the scene with the complainant and found the body hanging on a cloth.

Three student of Mfantsipim School, with the name Emmanuel Arthur.

The statement further said the Police also found a small mobile phone and other personal belongings.

It said photographs of the body and the scene were subsequently taken as part of investigations.

It said authorities of Mfantsipim School were contacted and they confirmed the identity of the deceased as Emmanuel Arthur, a final-year student of the school.

Buried

The police statement said the deceased’s parents had been informed about the development and indicated that a pathologist at the Cape Coast Teaching Hospital confirmed that the body had decomposed.

Consequently, the statement said the Environmental Health Directorate of the Cape Coast Metropolitan Assembly was contacted to fumigate the scene, while the body was later removed and handed over to the family.

Due to the advanced state of decomposition, it said, the family proceeded with the burial shortly after the body was released to them, while the Police continue with the investigations.
