Court To Hear Thomas Partey’s Canada Visa Review Application

Black Stars midfielder Thomas Partey is expected to appear before the Federal Court in Ottawa on Monday as legal proceedings commence regarding the denial of his visa application to enter Canada ahead of Ghana’s opening FIFA World Cup match against Panama.

Court documents sighted indicate that an application for leave and judicial review was filed on June 15, 2026, under case number IMM-12882-26.

The matter is listed as an immigration case arising outside Canada and is scheduled to be heard in Ottawa.

The hearing is expected to take place at 1:00 pm GMT, less than 36 hours before Ghana’s crucial Group Stage encounter against Panama, which kicks off at 11:00 pm GMT on June 17, 2026.

The midfielder has been a key figure for Ghana and was widely expected to play a leading role in the country’s World Cup campaign.

Meanwhile, Black Stars are scheduled to begin their World Cup campaign against Panama before taking on tougher tests later in the tournament.
