‘We Slept Together Before I Was Hired’ – Cardi B’s Ex-Lover’s Chef Testifies In Court

The assault trial of former Patriots wide receiver Stefon Diggs began on May 4, during which his former live-in personal chef, Jamila Adams, tearfully recounted the moment Diggs allegedly choked her at his Dedham, Massachusetts, mansion.

Adams, who worked for Diggs from July to December 2025 and earned $2,000 weekly, also testified that she and the NFL star had a sexual relationship before he hired her.

“It’s complicated,” she said of their relationship, as reported by the New York Post.

She said, “It started out as friends, became sexual, and we would meet up, hang out, and we decided I would come work for him in February 2025.”

Adams claims that on December 2, 2025, the day of the alleged assault, she texted Diggs from her bedroom in his house. The text expressed her frustration because he was not including her with him and others in the trip to Miami for the Art Basel expo.

The personal chef stated under oath that she and Diggs’ girlfriend, Cardi B, were working together to plan the outfits for the art show.

She claimed that Diggs referred to her and others as “b—hes” at one point during the text conversation.

Diggs, who was “very angry,” forced open and entered her bedroom door, she said.

According to her account, he questioned her, saying, “What was all that s–t you were talking?” right before he attacked her.

Adams claimed, “He smacked me with an open hand,” during her testimony, before pausing to cry and regain her composure.

According to Adams, she attempted to use a defensive maneuver she had learned from social media to block Diggs, but he allegedly responded violently, stating, “That s–t is not going to work.”

Tearfully, she described the alleged assault, stating, “He took his arm and he came around my neck with his elbow… and he began to choke me.”

According to an NBC Boston report, she claimed that after pulling her hair, he released her and then stated, “Yeah, I thought so.”

She testified that the assault was so terrifying that she wet her pants.

According to a TMZ report, Adams claimed her relationship with Diggs became tense in November after he accused her of spreading a rumor that he was romantically involved with another staff member named Lindsay.

She informed the jury that Diggs prohibited her from attending Art Basel as a consequence of this confrontation.

Adams later attempted to reconcile with Diggs, sending a text message that read: “Really sorry, Stef.”

Her motivation for doing this, she claimed, was solely to ensure she received her final paycheck.

“I needed to be nice to Stefon in order to get my pay to leave,” she said.

Andrew Kettlewell, Diggs’ lawyer, argued during opening arguments that Adams fabricated her claims, including generating text messages to bolster her allegations when speaking to the police. Furthermore, Kettlewell asserted that there was no physical evidence to back the charges.

Meanwhile, Diggs, a current free agent who spent the 2025 season with the Patriots, has entered a not-guilty plea.

News of the charges against Diggs, which include felony strangulation or suffocation and misdemeanor assault and battery, became public in 2025 following a court hearing in Dedham, Massachusetts, according to the Associated Press.

At the time of the allegations, Diggs’ lawyer, David Meier, issued an emailed statement asserting that Diggs “categorically denies these allegations.”

Meier added, “The timing and motivation for making the allegations is crystal clear: they are the direct result of an employee-employer financial dispute that was not resolved to the employee’s satisfaction.”

The Patriots also issued a statement expressing their continued support for Diggs at the time, saying, “We support Stefon.”
