A Senior Lecturer at Kumasi Technical University, Mr. Ishaq Kyei-Brobbey, has called for unity and internal accountability within the New Patriotic Party (NPP), urging members to reflect on the factors that contributed to the party’s defeat to the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
Speaking in an interview with Oheneba Nana Asiedu on the Wontumi Morning Show, he said the party must take time to critically examine its challenges as it remains in opposition.
“We in the NPP need to speak to ourselves about certain things that led the party into opposition,” he said.
He also commended the efforts of the NPP General Secretary, Justin Frimpong Kodua, noting that his work for the party may not always receive the recognition it deserves.
“Sometimes I pity him because any problem that comes from the party will be blamed on him, despite the efforts he has made,” he added.
Mr. Ishaq further alleged that the use of the security system by the NDC government to arrest NPP members could have political consequences in the future.
“The NDC’s use of the security system to arrest NPP members will be their downfall in the 2028 election,” he claimed.
He also expressed concern that some journalists are hesitant to criticize the current government, alleging fear of intimidation.
“A lot of journalists do not want to speak about what they describe as the poor performance of the NDC because they fear they could be arrested. That is a shame,” he stated.
