Boankra Integrated Logistics Terminal Project Gets Underway As President Cuts Sod

President Akufo-Addo and His Royal Majesty Otumfuo Osei Tutu II have cut the sod for work commence on the Boankra Integrated Logistics Terminal Project otherwise known as the Boankra Inland Port.

The Concessionaire is Ashanti Ports Services Limited and it is a joint venture of Afum Quality Limited of Ghana and DSS Associates of the Republic of Korea who are committed to investing a total of $330 million for the realization of the project which started in the Kufuor era some 18 years ago It would be completed in three years time. The total land size for the project is 413 acres.

The Concessionaire is expected to design, engineer, finance, procure, construct, operate and maintain it and transfer title to the government after a 30 year period.

Speaking at a Durbar at Boankra monitored by wontumionline.com the President said the Boankra project is a testimony of the excellent relationship existing between the Republic of Ghana and Republic of Korea.

” it is heartwarming that after 18 years since the misconception of this project, work is about to be commenced on it after financial and Parliamentary regulations have been done on the project.”

President Akufo-Addo affirmed government’s commitment to establishing firmly the economy of Ghana on a solid path of industrialization, with the view to delivering vision of self-reliance, development and prosperity for all.

“It is noteworthy that the transformation of the Ghanaian economy, from a raw material producing and exporting one, to an industrialized one, will be given a huge impetus with the coming on stream of this facility.”

He said that the completion of the Terminal will have commercial areas such as Banks, Offices, Training facilities, administration complex, Hospitals, Vehicle parking spaces ,light industrial areas among others and creates employment opportunities for skill and unskilled labour.

“It is notable that the transformation of the Ghanaian economy from raw material producing exporting wise to industrial wise would be given a huge boost when the project is completed.”

President Akufo-Addo affirmed that, when the four more years for Nana slogan is actualized during the December he will come back to commission the project.

He expressed gratitude to Ghanaians in general and Otumfuor in particular for the immense support given to the government and the patience they had to endure in anticipation of the project to come into fruition.

The Transport Minister, Hon. Kwaku Asiamah said that, Ghanaian contractors will construct the project and held the view that “ the contractors will not delay for President to lose faith in them.” He cautioned.
