Sadio Mane has been named to Senegal’s 2022 World Cup squad despite suffering an injury against Werder Bremen on Tuesday.
Mane was substituted after only 21 minutes of his side’s 6-1 win at the Allianz Arena in Bayern Munich’s penultimate World Cup game.
Bayern Munich manager Julian Nagelsmann said he had an x-ray after being hit on the tibia.
He has, however, been named to Senegal’s final squad, with coach Aliou Cisse confident that the attacker will be fit for the tournament, which begins on November 20.
Senegal begin their World Cup campaign on November 21 against the Netherlands, and Mane will be crucial in their hopes of emerging from a group that also includes host nation Qatar and Ecuador.
A kind draw on paper means expectations are high, in what is arguably one of the most open groups at the tournament.
