Let’s Elect Credible Candidates To Lead NPP — Adansi Asokwa Chairman.

Chairman Kwame Owusu, the Adansi Asokwa constituency chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has advised Party members to consciously elect persons with integrity at the upcoming national delegates conference.

These persons to be elected as national officers on July 14,  he noted would shape the fortunes of the party in the 2024 General elections.

Speaking to Michael Owusu-Afriyie, Mr Owusu said there was no time for experiments to be made in the choices available to them.

“We need credible and truthful persons to be selected so that the NPP can do away with persons who nearly marred the recently held regional elections with their actions”, Kwame Owusu noted.

DETAILS:
Narrating the uncomfortable situation he had to face to get persons the constituency had agreed to vote at the Regional delegates conference, Mr Owusu said never again should one person be allowed to choose people of his choice when it is a group matter.

He noted that contrary to what they had agreed with the Member of Parliament for the area, KT Hammond,  he realised that some of the persons the constituency had appointed had their names removed from the list submitted to the elections committee for the conference.

Mr Owusu said he was highly disappointed that people could be that mischievous.

“I am appealing to persons involved in elections from the party’s headquarters to regional as well as constituency levels to verify from right sources the status of executives during election periods” , Mr Owusu said.

REGULATIONS:
Mr Owusu stated that the party’s constitution was clear as to how to select persons in appointee capacity.

This, he noted is done by the constituency executives in consultation with its Member of Parliament.

No where, he stated is there a place for the MP or Chairman alone to choose his favourites to occupy an appointee position.

“I am sure if we are truthful to the NPP constitution what happened at the recent conference would not have occurred at Adansi Asokwa where names the constituency had submitted had been changed by the Director of Elections and a leader at the constituency”, Mr Owusu noted.
