43 Krobea Asante SHS/Tech

The number of students facing charges of vandalism at the Krobea Asante Technical and Vocational School has risen to 43 after police made four more arrest.

Thirty-nine rioting students of the Technical and Vocational School in the Ashanti Region who vandalised several items including private properties at the school last month have been granted bail.

The rampaging students destroyed four government vehicles and 2 others owned by teachers.

The school’s store was also not spared as the students invaded the place, resulting in the destruction of food items.

They went on rampage over poor examination results.

However, police on Sunday, January 22, arrested 39 of the students and later made additional arrest.

They were arraigned before the Asokore Mampong District Court, presided over by Samuel Buaben Quansah and the students were admitted to GH¢2000 bail each with one surety.

All the 43 students are to report at the Effiduase Police Station once every week.

The case has since been adjourned to Thursday, March 2.

The head of Legal and Prosecution at the Ashanti Regional Police Command, ACP Kofi Blagogie, said they have taken finger prints of the destroyed vehicles to aid investigations.

He added that they are pursuing other suspects connected to the disturbances.

“Other students or suspects were being sought in connection with issue,” he said.

He assured of full-scale investigation into the disturbances to bring to an end students rioting.
