Daniel Afriyie Barnie scored from the spot kick in the 48th minute to give the Black Galaxies the lead. It was the third goal of the Hearts of Oak star in the ongoing CHAN qualifiers.
Seidu Suraj scored the second goal of the game with a tap in from a cross to give Ghana a comfortable lead going into the second leg.
The Black Galaxies have failed to qualify for the tournament in the last three editions.
Ghana will travel to Abuja to face the CHAN Eagles of Nigeria in the second leg at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium next weekend.
