MTN records 53.1% increase in profit to GHS1.4bn; MoMo users hit 10.2m

MTN Ghana recorded 53.1% growth in earnings in the third quarter of this year to GHS1.4 billion. According to its unaudited quarter three (Q3) performance, total revenue went up by 19.3% to GHS4.4 billion in the first nine months of 2020. At the same time, capital investments shot up by 1.6% to GHS875.8 million in Q3. The company attributed its headline earnings to short-term cuts in expenses and cash preservation. MTN continues to lead the telecoms market as subscribers increased by 8.7% to 23.4 million. Active data subscribers also increased by 8.3% to 9.8 million, while active Mobile Money (MoMo)…
