15.5 Million Ghanaians Registered For Ghana Card
The Ashanti Regional Manager for Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) Mr. Sakyi Duodu, has revealed that 15.5 millions Ghanaians have secured the Ghana card.
He added that 6 million Ghanaians have also acquired the Tax Identification Numbers (TIN).
In an interview on Wontumi Radio/TV Morning Show, Mr. Duodu noted that, the figure has let the GRA notice the number of people who do not pay tax.
He said that a section of Ghanaians have no idea of the Tax adding that some also don’t understand it.
He noted that, initially, only the TIN was used for income Tax but the Ghana card can be used in transactions.
“The Ghana card helps in identification, security and income tax,” he said.
The GRA Area Manager appealed to Ghanaians to register for the TIN and the Ghana card.
He said that, if people pay tax, it will help the government to use the money to develop the country rapidly.
“The tax can also be used to fix the poor road networks,” he further added.
