You Can’t Dictate For The Judiciary- Gordon Advises Speaker of Parliament

Editor-in-chief for the ABCNews, Gordon Asare-Bediako has blatantly told the Speaker of Parliament Alban Sumana Bagbin, that he cannot dictate for the Judiciary.

He’s therefore telling him to be measured with his utterances against the Judiciary.

This comes on the backdrop of certain comments made by the Speaker, who noted that “It is not right to subject Assin North MP-elect James Gyakye Quayson to a daily trial in respect of the ongoing perjury hearing against him. I tell them, and I tell the judges- it is not right”.

This didn’t go down well with the Ace broadcaster who noted that the Speaker of Parliament should note that the Judiciary is not under him and as such, he cannot dictate and tell the Judiciary what is right and wrong.

“He should know that he’s powerless. He has no power per the constitution that rules the country. In any case, he doesn’t even vote on the floor of parliament and cannot influence decision even in his own territory”, he said.

Adding that if Alban Bagbin says the Judiciary hasn’t been fair to Gyakye Quayson, then he should also know that as a speaker of Parliament, he hasn’t been fair to Ghanaians.

Afterall, he wasn’t looking forward to becoming a Speaker of Parliament, he had it ‘accidentially’.
