A communications member for the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), Freda Prempeh, has said that Hon Adwoa Safo, the Dome Kwabenya Member of Parliament (MP) is disrespecting her constituency by absenting herself from her Parliamentary duties.
The MP who doubles as the Minister for Gender, Children, and Social Protecting was re-elected in the 2020 general elections against Dr. Mike Oquaye jr who came in a close contest with her.
In recent times, Hon Adwoa Safo has been absenting herself from parliamentary proceedings with the justification that her child is sick abroad. She was last seen on duty in December 2021, however, she has been present on TikTok, a video sharing app.
Several people took to social media to speak against the conduct of the MP and some party members have made a petition to the president to replace her.
Freda Prempeh while discussing Hon. Adwoa Safo’s saga with Kwaku Dawuro on Movement In The Morning Political Show said, ‘’I sacrificed my time to campaign for Adwoa Safo’s re-election. But it happens that most of the people who joined the campaign are disappointed in her, this is not what we bargained for. She is supposed to be with the very people who brought her to power’’.
According to Freda, she left her family to join the Dome- Kwabenya campaign train.
“I have three kids but I left my children and husband to campaign for her. I supported her because she is a woman and I don’t believe in the idea of women are their enemies and I knew she could do the job”, she added.
She revealed how saddened she is with the behavior of the sitting MP and indicated that she is disrespecting her constituency and the people who believed in her.
”Adwoa Safo needs to go back and work but if she does not want to do the job again she should resign. The Gender Ministry is big and if she cannot combine it with her parliamentary work she should tell President Akufo-Addo so he replaces her”, she adjoined.
‘’She has done enough- she should return’’, she fired.
