Yiadom Boakye Gives 15 Bags Of Cement To Aid MAMTECH Reconstruction
Yiadom Boakye Emmanuel, a presidential hopeful in the upcoming National Union of Ghana Students (NUGS) election on Wednesday donated 15 bags of cement to the Mampong based Technical College of Education (MAMTECH).
The gesture is to aid the tertiary institution in its re-construction efforts after a recent inferno gutted the main administration block.
At a brief ceremony at the precincts of the campus, Mr Yiadom Boakye (YB) said he was moved to act after seeing fire sweep through the administration block of the College.
He noted that every school or college is run from an administrative office and therefore it was important that all efforts were expended to get MAMTECH a new and befitting edifice to aid the day to day running of same.
APPEAL:
The NUGS presidential hopeful appealed to government and other stakeholders in education to also help out.
He noted that MAMTECH cannot on their own reconstruct the offices.
Accompanied by Harrison Richard and Adom Ntekebe, TTAG officials as well as Sarfo Bismark and Afrim John, ASHBA representatives, Mr Yiadom Boakye said the amount involved in re-construction may outweigh the revenue generated in the school.
He asked that the administration block is put up on time to ensure that school activities are properly coordinated for a smooth running of same.
APPRECIATION:
Receiving the bags of cement on behalf of the College, Miss Perpetual E. Gyenfi, Vice Principal of the school thanked the NUGS presidential hopeful for the gesture.
She noted that the swift response by Mr Yiadom Boakye is indicative of the fact that he values education.
The donation, Miss Gyenfi said would help the school as it prepares a reconstructive plan to tackle the challenge confronting same.
Flanked by Dennis Owusu and Benjilo Owusu Morrison, SRC executives for MAMTECH, Miss Gyenfi said the administration contained all the documents and information of students, adding that the earlier they had a new one in the stead of the ravaged block the better.
