Algerian midfielder Yassine Benzia has delivered an early nomination for the Puskas Award after scoring a wonderful goal during the international break.
Benzia scored twice in Algeria’s 3-3 draw with South Africa at the Nelson Mandela Stadium in an international friendly game.
The 29 year old announced his return to the Algerian National Football Team with the stunning goal being part of his brace against bronze medal winners South Africa.
Benzia flicked the ball in the air with his right foot and contorted his body to connect with the ball with his left foot and guide the ball into the net.
The game had a handful of changes made to the Algerian side that featured in the 2023 AFCON in Cote D’Ivoire that failed to progress beyond the group stage.
Olympique Lyon midfielder Said Benrahma returned to the team after being excluded from the Desert Foxes 2023 AFCON squad by former head coach Djamel Belmadi.
Former Switzerland head coach Vladimir Petkovic replaced Belmadi after the AFCON.
