A Political Science lecturer with the Kumasi Technical University, Dr. Bobie, has emphatically stated that no one stands a better chance of knocking Chairman Wontumi out as Regional Chairman for the New Patriotic Party.
His comments come shortly after false allegations were bundle around that Chairman Wontumi is planning to step down as the Ashanti Regional Chairman to seek refuge at his party’s national headquarters.
According to Dr. Bobie, the claims are false bearing in mind the massive contributions Chairman Wontumi has brought to the NPP in its stronghold.
He continued that anybody with the agenda to unseat Chairman Wontumi would be wasting his or her money since no one can do that currently.
“Chairman Wontumi would win the elections handsdown and even if he decides to go for a national position, he will win but I don’t believe he would do that at the moment. For the sake of election 2024, I know he will run and win as Ashanti regional Chairman”, Dr. Bobie said.
Just recently, President Akufo-Addo christened Bernard Antwi-Boasiako as the most famous regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party.
The President, in introducing Mr. Antwi-Boasiako to the Asantehene at Palace at Manhyia, stated that “with me is the Regional Chairman, famous Chairman 1- Wontumi”.
The commendation and subtle endorsement by President Akufo-Addo on Chairman Wontumi for him to continue to lead the party in the Ashanti region, can be linked to the victory he ensured the Ashanti region brought to the table in the 2020 election.
It would be recalled that under the leadership of Chairman Wontumi, the Ashanti region gave the New Patriotic Party (NPP) 1,795, 824 as against the National Democratic Congress’ (NDC) 653,149.
