Women Deserve To Be Celebrated —- Mama Pat
The Member of Parliament for Asokwa, Madam Patricia Appiagyei says women across the globe need to be celebrated for the roles they play in homes and in the society.
She noted that apart from child bearing, which is a vital role of women, they have also contributed immensely at every place they find themselves.
Speaking to the media after presenting wax prints and food items as well as undisclosed amounts of money to about 200 women in Asokwa at residence, Hon Appiagyei stated that women deserve the commemorative day of 8th March every year where the World celebrates them for their efforts.
“I commend the Akufo-Addo administration for showing support to women in Ghana and advancing their course by appointing them into useful positions to enable them to contribute their quota in the development of the country”, Madam Appiagyei stated.
IDEAS:
The Asokwa MP rallied women to play their roles with diligence and determination since they would be confronted with many challenges along the way.
She encouraged women with business and innovative ideas to take advantage of the local government system and approach their local Assemblies with same for support from government.
Government, she noted had put in place many avenues including the Youth Employment Agency (YEA), National Entrepreneurship and Innovation Program (NEIP) as well as others to provide avenues of employment to the youth including women and young ladies.
“I would humbly ask widows and persons with disability to take advantage of opportunities at the various district assemblies including the Asokwa Municipal Assembly and solicit for support with ideas they may have”, Mama Pat advised.
COMMENDATION:
Madam Yaa Akyiaa Donkor, a 60 year old widow thanked the Asokwa MP for her continuous effort of honoring widows in the municipality every year.
She noted publicly that but for such overtures and gestures by the MP, many in her state would have lived miserably.
Maame Adwubi Ntiamoah, a 50 year old widow from Dompoase praised Madam Appiagyei for the care she advances to women especially widows and the vulnerable in Asokwa.
She therefore asked other government appointees and ministers of state as well as the well to do in society to emulate the gesture of the Asokwa MP by looking out for the welfare of the poor and vulnerable.
