The Member of Parliament for Manhyia North, Collins Owusu Amankwah, has warned members of the National Democratic Congress who have become offensive and taken to the streets to burn lorry tyres and pelt innocent citizens with stones to put a stop to the practice since it won’t change the outcome of the 2020 election results.
The respected MP advised that rather than endangering the lives of innocent Ghanaians, the party should register their case at court if they feel cheated in the just ended elections which saw their Presidential candidate place second.
In an interview on the Wontumi Morning Show, the Manhyia North MP stated that “stop the burning of tyres and throwing of stones, it won’t change the verdict…There was open counting in all the polling stations across the country and party agents were there together with independent observers to monitor the process…We have ECOWAS, EU, CODEO all praising Ghana for successful elections.”
Hon. Collins Owusu Amankwah narrated that he finds it amusing that former President John Mahama has refused to petition the law court when in 2012; he had recommended the same place for President Akufo-Addo to seek electoral redress.
According to him, “the same faith that they (NDC) had in the court and made them recommend the place to NPP for us to take our petition there should encourage them to go there today. If they fail to do that it means they are a walking contradiction”.
He revealed that Parliament was in touch with the various heads of the security agencies to ensure there is peace in the country.
