Where Are The Lawyers? You Shout But Can’t Collate Results- Awudu Mahama Challenges NDC

The Managing Editor for the Custodian newspaper, Awudu Mahama, has mocked the National Democratic Congress’ inability to collate results and fulfil their promise of assigning a lawyer each to the 38, 622 polling stations in Ghana.

Mr. Awudu Mahama who appeared as guest on Bekyere Mu show hosted by Gordon Asare-Bediako on Movement TV, stated that instead of focusing on the realities on the grounds, the leadership of the NDC get obsessed with “shouting”.

In politics it isn’t about shouting but rather the work you do on the ground”, he explained.

According to him, in 2016 the NDC sent a message that they were ready to face the election in a ‘do-or-die” mode but lost out because they were unable to collate results.

In 2020, Mr. Awudu Mahama repeated that they sent out the same message but failed to clinch the presidential seat from the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

…but I hope that in 2024, they can do something so that if there is a dispute, we can refer to their collated results”, he said as he expects them to repeat the same mistake.

He also called the party out for failing to field a lawyer each at the 38, 622 polling stations across the country.

“I asked myself how many lawyers we have in Ghana for them to say they will assign lawyers to each polling station. We have 38, 622 polling stations in the country…they made that expression to show that the election was going to be ‘do-or-die’ affair but in the end what happened? We didn’t see the lawyers they were talking about; and collation of results was hard for them to do”.
