Western Region Gets Its Share of Covid-19 School Re-opening Disinfection Exercise
Alhaji Abdulai Abdallah, the Western General Manager of Zoomlion Ghana Limited has appealed to students and staff of tertiary institutions in the region that have benefited from the ongoing nationwide covid-19 disinfection exercise to continue observing all the protocols regarding the deadly disease despite the Ministry of Education and Zoomlion’s intervention.
971 basic schools, 55 senior high schools and 8 tertiary institutions are expected to benefit from the exercise.
Ghana telecom university, Takoradi technical university, Valley view university, Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology Distance Learning campus in Kansaworodo as well as the GIMPA campus in the region and a number of Junior High school and Senior High School benefited from the exercise.
The Regional Manager in charge of Zoomlion said his outfit has targeted 80-90 schools to be disinfect daily, stressing that, the disinfection intervention would take three days to complete.
As a result of the huge number of education institutions expected to benefit from the disinfection exercise, he said the number of sprayers had increased while new spraying machines had been brought on board to increase the spraying efficiency.
Mr Kenneth Boateng, the Deputy Registrar of Takoradi technical university told journalists that the institution was expecting 12,000 students for the 2021-2022 academic year.
He said the Personal Protection Equipments (PPEs) at the disposal of the school would be enough for all students.
Continuing students according to him had been given their share of the PPEs noting that first year students would have their own when they report.
All covid-19 protocols, he said, would be strictly adhered to.
Commenting on the issue regarding teaching and learning, Mr. Boateng said his outfit has enough lecture halls to accommodate the expected number of students.
