We’re Grateful Of Your Support —- Ashanti Regional Women’s Wing To First Lady
The Ashanti Regional Women’s Wing of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) has expressed their profound gratitude to the First Lady of the Republic of Ghana, Mrs. Rebecca Akufo-Addo and the Rebecca Foundation for commissioning and handing over a newly constructed library in Kumawu to the Sekyere Kumawu District Assembly and the Ghana Library Authority in the Ashanti Region.
The library was constructed, furnished and resourced by the Rebecca Foundation.
Speaking in appreciation to this kind gesture, the Ashanti Regional Women’s Organiser, Nana Ama Ampomah, was full of praise of the First Lady, and thanked her for the enormous support and assistance the region enjoys from her.
Nana Ama recounted the numerous projects and interventions from the First Lady’s outfit across the country over the years, even before 2016 to date, including her continued support to the needs and interests of women particularly, the Queen mothers and market women in the Ashanti Region.
PROJECTS:
Prominent among them is her pragmatic response to the nationwide indignation at the shocking rate of maternal mortality at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital by spearheading the construction of a befitting edifice for mothers and their babies in a record time of six months to curb the menace.
“This is not new. She has been embarking on similar projects across the country over the years. She’s been supporting the Ashanti region in particular in this form over the past years. Even last 4 years, the First Lady spearheaded the construction of a Mother and Baby Unit at KATH which helped reduce, drastically, the mortality rate of mothers and babies”, Madam Ampomah noted.
Furthermore, she has been supporting the Queen mothers and market women in this region in diverse ways, Nana Ama Ampomah said.
Nana Ama Ampomah therefore indicated the Ashanti Regional Women’s Wing’s determination and commitment to help the government succeed in the region and beyond.
“The Ashanti Regional Women’s Wing and the women in the region in general, are determined and committed in ensuring that the government achieve all its targets in the region and beyond”, Nana Ama Ampomah added.
CHARGE:
She then urged all to work selflessly to help the government fulfill all its promises to the good people of the country.
Recognising the role of literacy in education, the Rebecca Foundation has so far through the “Learning to Read Reading to Learn” Initiative constructed, furnished resourced and commissioned libraries in Wenchi in the Bono Region, Sefwi Debiso in the Western North Region, Moree in the Central Region, Daffiama Bussie Issah in the Upper West Region and Amansaman in the Greater Accra Region.
The soon-to-be-completed libraries at Bortianor in the Greater Accra Region and Dambai in the Oti Region will bring the total number of libraries constructed by the Rebecca Foundation, to eight.
In conclusion, the Ashanti Regional Women’s Organiser urged all women across the country to render their unflinching support to the First Lady as she clearly stands out the most-hardworking and productive First Lady in the history of the country.
