Wenchi: GIS Arrests 26 Nigeriens For Entering The Country Wrongly

Officials of the Ghana Immigration Service (GIS) in the Wenchi Municipality of the Bono Region Region on Thursday September 24, 2020 arrested 26 Nigeriens through unapproved routes.

The Niger Nationals which included 24 males 2 females and a two year old boy,aged between 23 and 58 years.

Assistant Superintendent of Imigration (ASI) Emmanuel Addai, in charge of operations and enforcement at the Wenchi Municipal Command of the Imigration Service, told Radio West Africa, Nana Anfreh Damanta that the immigrants were all traders traveling from Abidjan to Techiman the Bono East Regional Capital.

The Nigeriens were on board with 207 bus with registration number GR 8278 – Z.

They have breached our immigration laws and we would send them back to Sampa to assist us in investigations on how they entered the country ASI Emmanuel Addai retreated.

According to him in line with the Covid-19 protocols, the immigrants were screened to determine their Covid-19 status and they would be referred to Port Health at Sampa.

ASI Emmanuel Addai further explain to Radio West, Nana Anfreh Damanta that the 26 Nigeriens would be repatriated.

He urged drivers to support in the fight against Covid-19.

Mr Emmanuel Addai therefore cautioned that anyone who facilitated the entry into the country of a foreigner would be dealt accordance to the laws in the country.
