Asante Kotoko Interim Management Committee (IMC) Chairman, Nana Apinkra, has reaffirmed the club’s commitment to playing home games at the Baba Yara Stadium, despite its recent rejection by the Club Licensing Board over security concerns.
Speaking on Oyerepa FM, Nana Apinkra emphasized the stadium’s significance to Kotoko and dismissed any plans to relocate.
“If Baba Yara Stadium does not meet the requirements, then where else are we supposed to go?” he questioned. “This is our home, we have no other place to play our games. We will play at the Baba Yara Stadium,” he insisted.
The 2024/25 Ghana Premier League was temporarily suspended following Kotoko’s call for enhanced security measures after the tragic passing of a fan, Francis “Nana Pooley” Frimpong, during their match against Bofoakwa Tano in Nsoatre.
Although the league is set to resume on March 7, Kotoko has announced they will return to action only after the final funeral rites and burial of Nana Pooley.
Currently sitting second in the league table with 34 points from 19 matches, Kotoko will face Legon Cities in their first match upon resumption.
