If persuasion fails, force must be applied in getting former President John Mahama to enter the fray to debate vice President Mahamudu Bawumia, Chairman Wontumi has said.
The Ashanti regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) stated in an interview with Oheneba Nana Asiedu on Wontumi TV there is no escape route for Mr. Mahama and the only option he has left, is to accept the challenge of debating Dr. Bawumia.
“We are going to force Mahama to debate Bawuma. He has nowhere to run to because we will pursue him with Bawumia”, Chairman Wontumi vowed.
He continued that the flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) was trying all he can to avoid talking about policies because he doesn’t have one and asserted that it is the main reason he is running away from debating Dr. Bawumia.
The spokesperson for the John Mahama Campaign Team, Joyce Bawah Mogtari, has firmly rejected calls for a pre-election debate between the NDC flagbearer and Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the flagbearer of the NPP.
Despite growing appeals from political analysts and various stakeholders, Bawah Mogtari dismissed the idea of a debate between the two prominent contenders.
