“We Will Come After You”- Forestry Commission Warns illegal Chainsaw Operators
The National Coordinator for the Forestry Commission, Mr. George Osei, has warned illegal chainsaw operators to stop depleting the nation’s forest reserves or face the wrath of the commission.
Mr. George Osei made the statement during a short send-off ceremony at the Forestry Commission’s following a transfer after serving for 6 years at the Commission’s headquarters.
As part of his hard work, he built an 8 -bedroom apartment to assist in the smooth running of the commission.
George Sasu has been transferred to Nsawam to occupy the District Manager position at the Nsawam office of the Commission.
Speaking at the ceremony, he cautioned illegal chainsaw operators to desist from the act, warning that his men will come after them.
“ There is a saying that if the last tree dies, the last man dies. Indiscriminate felling of trees will not be tolerated. Let me reiterate that the Forestry Commission task force has come to stay and we will go after illegal chainsaw operators felling tress without approval from the appropriate quarters. We will fish all of them from their hideouts “ he added.
Speaking at the same programme, the Executive Director of the Forestry Commission, Oppong Sasu commended the outgoing National Coordinator of the Commission for his tremendous service during his tenure at the headquarters.
He expressed the commission’s outmost gratitude for the donation of the 8-bedroom apartment to the Commission.
He called on other staff of the Forestry Commission to emulate the good works and selfless dedication of George Osei.
