‘We Want To Play For Our Country’ – Jordan Ayew Emphasises Pride Ahead Of Austria Clash

Ghana captain Jordan Ayew has underscored the deep sense of pride and responsibility that comes with representing the Black Stars, as the team prepares for Friday’s friendly against Austria.

Speaking ahead of the match in Vienna, Ayew stressed that despite a few late withdrawals from the squad, the players called upon are fully committed to the national cause.

“We want to play for our country; we want to do well for our country. So, every game is important. Tomorrow is going to be a tough game; Monday will be a tough game as well. So, we will do our best,” he said.

Ayew expressed confidence in the team’s preparation, noting that the limited training time has been utilised effectively to prepare the squad for two demanding fixtures.

“I think we are preparing well tactically, technically, and physically. We really look good. We’re ready for tomorrow, and we’ll see if we can get a positive result.”

The captain made it clear that the team’s ambition is to deliver strong performances, not merely participate in them.

“We are going to try to put in our best performance. We are not here for holidays. We are here to work hard, to perform, and to get good results. It will not be easy, but it will also be the best chance to be successful tomorrow,” he added.

Ghana faces Austria in Vienna on Friday before travelling to Stuttgart to take on Germany on Monday in two crucial World Cup preparation matches. For Ayew and his teammates, the opportunity to represent Ghana is one they do not take lightly.
