We Owe Our Victory To The Ghanaian People — Nana Ama Ampomah
The Ashanti Regional Women’s organiser of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Nana Ama Ampomah says the party owes its electoral victory in the just ended general elections to the good people of Ghana.
According to her, the endorsement of the party’s flag-bearer, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo at the polls shows that the Ghanaian people are appreciative of his work.
The social intervention programs coupled with the excellent management of the COVID-19 crisis, the women organiser noted were some of the issues voters considered when casting their ballots.
Speaking to Wontumionline.com in Kumasi Thursday morning, Madam Ampomah said the NPP was grateful for the kindness from the Ghanaian people.
ASHANTI REGION:
The women’s organiser also commended the people of the Ashanti Region for stepping out to vote for the NPP.
She noted that even though the party expected a voter turn-out beyond 80% and to do over 2.5 million votes, it was happy the over 70% turn-out pushed the NPP to victory.
The regional executives, the women’s organiser said were thankful for the invaluable service rendered to the party by volunteer groups in the Ashanti region.
Madam Ampomah also thanked the various Chief Executive Officers of state institutions and outfits for the support extended to the regional party for the prosecution of its campaign.
INTROSPECTION:
The women’s leader hinted of plans by the regional executive to carry out a thorough evaluation of the party’s performance and follow measures to address the issues that would come up.
The party, she revealed, had worked to secure all the 47 parliamentary seats in the Ashanti Region but could only garner 42.
She was surprised it even lost some seats to the NDC and an independent candidate.
The women’s leader mentioned that the party would allow things to settle and carry out its diagnosis to address the outcomes.
BRIEF:
In the Ashanti Region, President Akufo-Addo obtained 1, 795, 824 votes with his closest contender, John Mahama bagging 653, 149 votes out of the total votes cast.
In the parliamentary election, the NPP kept 42 out of the 44 seats it had prior to the polls losing two to the NDC with an Independent candidate taking the Fomena seat.
