The deputy General Secretary for the New Patriotic Party , Lawyer Nana Obiri Boahene has cautioned political parties and individuals to refrain from dragging the judiciary into politics following Albert Ken Dapaah and Festus Aboagye’s comment on the Judiciary system.
Speaking on Movement TV morning show with Nana Oheneba Asiedu on 12th April 2022, he emphasized that, the judiciary is an independent body.
“We can politicize everything but we must be careful not to drag the judiciary into the political space because they are the bedrock of the country and their sanity must be protected”, he said.
He encouraged politicians to give fair judgment on issues without using political lenses.
“Lawyers are not angels, and as humans as they are, they are bound to make mistakes. We must appreciate their humanity’’, he stressed.
In the past months, the National Democratic Congress has accused the judiciary of being biased because the party has lost series of cases in court.
Recently, the National Security Officer, Albert Ken Dapaah said that Ghanaians may lose confidence in the Judiciary if rulings always favour the government.
Festus Aboagye added that the recent judgements of the court will lead Ghanaians to have doubt in verdicts by the court.
A democratic society is made up of three structures; the executive, legislature and judiciary. The judiciary serves as a referee between the executive and the legislature and they ensure the law is interpreted, protected, and ensure that the law is protected.
