The Ashanti Regional School Feeding Programme Coordinator, Madam Mary Duodu has disclosed that the president Nana Akufo-Addo and through the Finance Ministry has released funds to settle arrears owed school feeding caterers.
Madam Duodu disclosed this to Wontumi News early today, July 6, 2023.
According to her, the funds were released by the Ministry of Finance explaining that, lack of funds caused the delay. She explained the delay wasn’t deliberate.
Madam Duodu said the payment was made to all the 16 regions in Ghana and will be distributed to all working caterers accordingly
She added, some are likely to face challenges due to the process of appointment, meanwhile government is still working to settle them in few days.
“In 2018-2029, government hasn’t approved some schools but cooking has commenced in those schools, we were told payment process for them are underway”
She also disclosed that some caterers have deliberately stop cooking due to delay of payments.
She advised the aggrieved caterers to always stay calm anytime payments delay, adding that, “demonstration doesn’t resolve such challenges”
