We Have Corrected All Discrepancies In The Provisional Voters Register – EC

The Electoral Commission (EC) of Ghana has announced that all discrepancies identified in the 2024 provisional voters register have been corrected.

This was disclosed by EC Chairperson, Jean Mensa during the Inter-Party Advisory Committee (IPAC) meeting held on October 1, 2024.

Jean Mensa emphasized that, the Commission has made significant progress in addressing issues with the provisional register since its initial exhibition at over 40,000 centres nationwide.

“We have employed tried and tested legal and administrative processes to clean the register, and we can confidently state that most of the discrepancies have been resolved,” she said.

The EC in response to claims that the discrepancies were aimed at disenfranchising voters in certain regions, clarified that such assertions are false.

“As a Commission, we can confidently state that most of the discrepancies discovered to date have been resolved. It is important to note that the discrepancies initially identified in the provisional voters’ register cut across all regions.

“Assertions that the discrepancies in the provisional voters’ register were aimed at disenfranchising voters in certain parts of the country are untrue. That said, we have cleaned up the provisional voters’ register and corrected all discrepancies identified to date,” Jean Mensa stated.

The Commission reiterated its commitment to transparency and accountability.
