In the wake of threats by some members of the New Patriotic Party to contest on an independent ticket, Gabby Otchere-Darko has offered his opinion on the matter and stated that some of the aggrieved independent parliamentary candidates were not fairly treated.

Speaking in an exclusive interview on the Wontumi Morning Show, the NPP stalwart stated that some of the concerns being raised were genuine and there was a need for the party leaders to patch things up quickly by addressing the issue amicably.

It would be recalled that the General Secretary of the NPP recently issued a statement serving notice to the few members of the Party who decided to file as Independent Parliamentary Candidates.

According to him, contesting as independent parliamentary candidates, automatically “FORFEITED” their membership of the Party.

But Mr. Otchere-Darko noted that “some are genuinely aggrieved” and advised that if the matter isn’t addressed from that angle, the party wouldn’t have a solution.

He continued that “let us sympathize with those who didn’t get the chance to contest on the ticket of the party. The party failed on some aspects but we have to understand some actions might have been done for various reasons”.

He expressed his support for candidates who failed to win their parliamentary primaries noting that “I have sympathy for them.”

He however advised them that in politics, what makes one better “is how you handle adversity” adding that “this is how you can endure in politics.”
