Kuwait, a suburb of Kumasi has been battling floods over the years.
A series of complaints and petitions have been logged to the appropriate quarters but no avail.
The recent heavy downpours have landed the town and a renowned school in the area, The Shepherd School in a very horrible situation.
The school and some houses have been flooded heavily leaving properties destroyed.
Hundreds of residents have also been displaced.
The situation has forced the Proprietor of the school, George Oppong to shut down the school until further notice.
Speaking exclusively to Wontumionline’s Nana Owusu Achiaw, George Oppong lamented that,” this is not the first time the School and the houses around the school have flooded. The last time when it occurred we relayed our sentiment to the Assemblyman and he made an effort to curtail the flood.”
He quickly said, “but this one resulted from a dump at the bank”.
He made an emotional appeal to the city authorities to stretch the gutter they have constructed at Atonsu to Kuwait to abridge the flood completely.
