The 2020 flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress must work on repairing his tattered image and an impending public ridicule by firing his lawyers, the National Youth Organiser for the New Patriotic Party has advised.
Lawyer Henry Nana Boakye popularly known as Nana B in an interview on the Wontumi Morning Show, stated that the posture of lawyers for the petitioner at court depicts that of people who are well prepared to handle the case.
He raised an occurrence in court yesterday that highlights the unpreparedness of lawyers for the petition in the ongoing case.
According to him, the lead counsel for Mr. John Mahama, Tsatsu Tsikata, reported to court very late when the judges were hearing the case only to say he was caught up in traffic hence his lateness.
Making his case about events that lawyers for Mr. Mahama are tarnishing his image with, Nana B noted that “they (petitioner’s lawyers) are not prepared for their own case…they are joking with the case in court. Tsatsu didn’t show up early in court yesterday and when he showed up, he said he was caught up in traffic”.
He added that “Tony Lithur made a very contemptuous statement but was made to retract it. He accused the judges of already making up their mind on the case”.
As a way to check Tsatsu Tsikata in court, Nana B added that Lawyer Frank Davis, advised him that the courtroom isn’t a place for him to perform his “melodrama” and “prose”.
He maintained that “if I were former President Mahama, I would have sacked my lawyers. They are disgracing him.”
