The Ashanti Regional Chairman for the New Patriotic Party has fired specifically at the Member of Parliament for Asawase emphatically stating that he didn’t ask sensible questions when he had the opportunity to vet the Agric Minister-designate, Dr. Owusu Afriyie Akoto.
On Friday, Dr. Afriyie Akoto appeared before the Vetting Committee following his renomination as the Minister-Designate for Food and Agriculture.
After monitoring the proceedings, Mr. Bernard Antwi-Boasiako, stated on the Nsempa Fie show on Wontumi TV that he wasn’t pleased with the approach the MP for Asawase, Mubarak Mohammed Muntaka used when he had a golden opportunity to vet the minister.
Mr. Bernard Antwi-Boasiako also known as Chairman Wontumi stated that it was clear that Hon. Muntaka attached his personal emotions when his line of questions to the Minister is put under scrutiny.
Chairman Wontumi called on the NDC MP to slow down on his personal attacks on ministers that come before him and the committee and apply wisdom in the job he has been given.
According to him, Hon. Muntaka should have remembered that Dr. Owusu Afriyie Akoto as Minister of Agriculture has ensured that Ghana has stopped importing rice and maize. Adding such a hardworking minister has made it possible for the Planting for Food and Jobs programme to become a success.
