MTN Ghana on Saturday, August 13, 2022 organised a marathon health walk for some selected journalists in Accra.

The walk which began at Ayi Mensah through Aburi Mountains ended at Peduase which is 5.9 kilometres.

The event organized by the communications division of MTN Ghana was aimed at improving the lives of the journalists and its staff. It also served as an avenue for the staff and the journalists to bond together.

The walk which lasted over three hours again presented them a unique opportunity to actively interact with one another, renew friendship, through physical exercise, amusement and refreshment outside their office space.

After the long walk, the journalists and the MTN staff converged at the serene and beautiful Aburi Botanical Gardens in the Eastern Region to stretch and relax their muscles.

Participants who took part in the health walk comprised members of Journalists for Business Advocacy (JBA), Institute of Financial and Economic Journalists (IFEJ), Network of Communications Reporters (NCR), and Sports Writers Association of Ghana (SWAG).

Inspirational talk

Inspiring the participants, the Founder of The Mental Catalyst (TMC), Michael Amankwah also known as Don Miller, urged them to commit to living their lives in full by keeping what he called the four wheels of life which are- your health, spirituality, mental capacity and emotions fully inflated.

For instance, a four-wheel vehicle cannot move when one tyre is deflated. The same way that the human being cannot function optimally without all his or her four wheels fully pumped.

To this, Mr Amankwah urged the participants to exercise regularly to improve their health and emotional health, stressing that “you can make all the money in the world, but if your health is bad you will never enjoy life.”

He advised all to read regularly for mental development, daily devotion for spiritual enhancement and keeping good relationships through emotional intelligence.

Responding to Don Miller’s inspirational talk, Senior Corporate Communications Manager of MTN Ghana, Mrs Georgina Asare-Fiagbenu, said: “We seriously need to inflate all four tyres. Consequently we will introduce regular walks both at the individual and corporate levels.”

She thanked the journalists for coming out in their numbers to make the event a success.

Prizes

The first nine participants who were first to reach the final stop of the walk would receive their prizes this week, while special prizes would be awarded to the senior media practitioners who participated fully in the walk.
