A political analyst, Nana Yaw Serbeh has cautioned legislators aligned to the New Patriotic Party to be weary of the conduct of their colleagues in the National Democratic Congress when it comes to addressing issues of national concern.
Speaking on the Wontumi Morning Show, the NPP stalwart noted that the conduct of the NDC legislators is alarming and creating an impression of backstabbers.
Nana Yaw Serbeh raised the issue of referendum to organise district assembly elections in Ghana as one scenario that shows that NDC MPs cannot be trusted when it comes to developing the nation.
According to him, after NDC MPs agreed to work with their colleagues in NPP to ensure the elections come on, they pulled out at the latter stage to make the exercise a useless one.
He also cited the issue of building a new chamber for the use of Parliamentarians that show the NDC MPs cannot be trusted in their dealings. Nana Yaw Serbeh recounted that the NDC managed to get Ghanaians turn their heat on the NPP government when they had all initially agreed to get a new chamber for the house.
“After the court has finished hearing the petition, certain things must change. It shouldn’t be business as usually between the NPP and NDC. Standards must start working; this is because in Parliament, they are tricking us too much. When it came to the referendum, the NDC MPs were involved before an agreement was made on the District assembly elections. But when it came to last hurdle, the NDC leadership pulled out and made it clear they were tricking us.”
“When it came to building a new chamber and they had to hold a joint press conference, the NDC party told their people to stay out. It turned against the NPP”, he said.
