Telecommunications Giant, MTN Ghana has launched the 2022 edition of the Mobile Money (MoMo) Month in Kumasi.
The MTN MoMo is 13 years old today since its inception in 2009.
Speaking at the event, the Northern Sector Manager for MTN Ghana, Nii Adotey Mingle established that the MoMo has impacted the lives of many Ghanaians.
He said it has created employment for unemployed people.
He stressed that “several years before the eruption of the COVID-19, MoMo was established as a critical element in facilitating trade and other financial transactions.”
Nii Adotey Mingle emphasized that COVID-19 has made MoMo more irrelevant.
He hinted that MTN Ghana will continue to strengthen its partnership with banks, insurance companies and other financial institutions to deepen digital payment.
He mentioned that several activities have been lined up to drive partnership in the digital payment platform.
Nii Adotey Mingle enumerated them as; Customer Promos, Digital Fares, Market Storms and a new initiative called to catch them young series in this MoMo month.
MoMo Fraud
Nii Adotey Mingle reiterated that MTN Ghana’s fight against the MoMo fraud continues unabated.
He appealed to the MoMo users not to share their pin code, not to engage in conversation with their wallet and not let others transact on their behalves.
Detective Sergeant Daniel Ofori on behalf of the Ghana Police assured customers of their assistance in solving MoMo fraud.
Sergeant Ofori urged the MoMo customers not to heed any wrongful calls.
He advised the vendors to be so much concerned about their security.
Sergeant Ofori said the vendors should not work deep into the night.
