VIDEO: Chairman Wontumi Granted Bail With 2 Sureties

The Ashanti Regional Chairman of  New Patriotic Party (NPP), Bernard Antwi Boasiako, has been granted bail with two sureties after a nearly seven-hour closed-door engagement with the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) and his legal team, which included the former Attorney General.

The intense questioning has sparked widespread interest, with many following the developments closely.

Upon his release, Chairman Wontumi disclosed that the prolonged interrogation centered on two key issues. Firstly, he refuted allegations of illegal mining, presenting proof of his lease agreement to demonstrate his compliance with regulatory requirements.

Secondly, he addressed claims of mining in a forest reserve, explaining that although he had applied for a license, it was denied, and he never proceeded with mining activities in the reserve.

Chairman Wontumi maintained a measured tone, stating, “This is all I can say for now. Details will emerge later.”
