A Political Analyst, Nana Oteatuoso Kokobeng II has laid down the gauntlet and insisted that it would only take Vice President Dr. Bawumia to break the eight-year cycle jinx and lead the New Patriotic Party into victory after 2024.
Speaking on the Wontumi Morning show on Wednesday, Nana Oteatuoso Kokobeng II remarked that the party must settle on Vice President Bawumi and not Trade Minister, Mr. Alan Kyerematen as successor to President Akufo-Addo if the aim is to maintain power beyond 2024.
“The time has come for us to make it clear to Alan that Bawumia is our next President… making such comment is not an act of suicide”, he passionately said.
He also called on the party to keep record of a disrespectful comment former President John Mahama made concerning Dr. Bawumia succeeding President Akufo-Addo when his tenure comes to an end.
Former President Mahama is on record to have said that the NPP would overlook Vice President Bawumia when it comes to the selection of a new flagbearer because he is from the North.
But in Nana Oteatuoso Kokobeng’s view, failing to rally behind Dr. Bawumia as the next flagbearer of the NPP would give the NDC more missile to fire and damage the chances of the NPP maintaining power.
“I want make it plain, after President Nana Akufo-Addo, Bawumia is the next President”, he emphatically said.
