Harsh treatment from the camp of former President John Mahama caused Speaker of Parliament, Rt. Hon. Alban Bagbin to curse his own political party the National Democratic Congress (NDC), a political analyst by name Nana Oteatuoso Kokobeng II has said.
Nana Oteatuoso Kokobeng was reacting to statements by newly elected Council of State representative for the Greater Accra region, Hon E.T. Mensah that Hon. Bagbin would never do the bidding of the NDC despite being a member of the party.
Mr. Mensah who is also a member of the NDC described the current Speaker as a man who is independent in his thinking and judgment and thus will not do the bidding of anyone or allow himself to the influenced by the NDC.
It was on the back of this that Nana Oteatuoso stated on the Wontumi Morning Show that former President Mahama and his faction within the NDC tried to drive out Hon. Alban Bagbin from the party when the NDC was in power.
He added that when the NDC was in power, they reduced Hon. Alban Bagbin to nothing and it has taken the government of President Akufo-Addo to raise his status by ensuring he is made Speaker of Parliament.
The respected analyst mentioned former President Mahama’s aide Stan Dogbe, as the person used to ensure Hon. Bagbin was reduced to nothing.
“Stan Dogbe used to prevent him (Bagbin) from seeing former President Mahama when they were in power. For this reason Bagbin cursed the NDC and John Mahama and there is no way he will reverse that curse. He will not use his current position to help in doing the biding of the NDC”, he said.
