The Director of operations at the National Youth Wing secretariat of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Alhaji Muazo Kunata has expressed firm conviction in continuing his pursuit for the National NASARA coordinator position.
According to him, it’s an informed decision and he’s not backing down.
He made this known on the MOVEMENT IN THE MORNING political show on Friday, May 27, as he debunked claims that the Vice President, Alhaji Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has asked him to step down from contesting.
He disclosed that his phone has been inundated with calls, as many people sought to confirm if it was true that the Vice President wants him to step down from the contest.
“I received a call last night from one of the regions that someone from the office of the Vice President had called a delegate in that region, to influence him to cast his ballot for my opponent”, he said.
“The person claims the supposed opponent is the preferred choice of the Vice President”, he added.
“It’s never true, disregard such claims”, he debunked; adding that the Vice President will never do such a thing.
“He’s a man of few words. He doesn’t even talk much. Since my last engagement with him in October last year when I informed him of my intention to contest for the National NASARA coordinator position, I haven’t spoken to him again”, he said.
He made a passionate appeal to whoever is making such claims using the name of the Vice President to desist from doing so; adding that it’s a dent on the reputation of the Vice President.
It’s absurd to be using the office of the Vice President for such purposes, and I will plead with the staff of the office to put a stop to it, “he said.
Alhaji Kunata further explained his intentions for the NPP, in the Zongo communities should he be elected national NASARA coordinator.
According to him, NASARA is one out of the three wings of the NPP that has been under-resourced all these years; adding that it was due to lack of administration.
Therefore, one of his top priorities if he’s elected is to build a NASARA administration which is intended to change the narrative of the party in the Zongo communities.
Nasara is the Zongo wing of the New Patriotic Party with the primary purpose of mobilizing members for the party within the Muslim Communities of Ghana.
