The New Patriot Party’s Director of Communications, Richard Ahiagbah, has blamed the Majority Caucus in Parliament for tensions that erupted during a session of the Appointments Committee, when members of the Minority and Majority Caucuses clashed over the vetting of Kwabena Mintah Akandoh and Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa.
According to Richard Ahiagbah, it was unnecessary for the Majority Caucus to sneak in Okudzeto Ablakwa and other members for vetting, which was not agreed upon.
He further reiterated that, the NDC must be transparent and allow the process to unfold as agreed upon.
He tasked the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to work together with the NPP to protect and preserve our democracy.
“There is no reason for the NDC to be sneaky, especially since the NPP has demonstrated good faith thus far. The NDC must be transparent and allow the process to unfold as agreed upon..

The dispute started when the Minority suggested moving the vetting to Friday due to worries about the day’s activities. However, the request was strongly denied by the majority, who insisted that the vetting proceed as planned.
The majority insisted that the vetting continue uninterrupted and asserted that the committee was adhering to its set agenda despite the chaos.
Majority Leader Mahama Ayariga stepped in to quell the disturbances, halting the vetting process and formally moving it until Friday, January 31.
