Update: Fire Service Rubbishes Claims There Was No Water To Douse New Kejetia Market Fire

The new Kumasi Kejetia Market was gutted by fire Wednesday afternoon destroying property worth thousands of Ghana cedis.

The inferno occurred on Wednesday, 15/03/2023 at 4:30 pm.

Speculation was rife that the fire tenders came empty without water to douse the flames.

But speaking on Wontumi TV Morning Show, the Fire Service has rubbished the claims.

The Ashanti Regional Fire Commander, ACFO 1 Henry Giwah said “we used the water and the materials in the market to extinguish the fire so it is not true there was no water.”

ACFO 1 Henry Giwah disclosed that what made the fire spread rapidly were the turpentines and the leather wears in the shops.

According to him, these materials are highly inflammable.

The Fire Commander said the fire has completely been extinguished.
